Lyon is the third-largest city in France. It is located in the country’s east-central part at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône. The districts of Vieux-Lyon, the Fourvière hill and the slopes of the Croix-Rousse are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A Mecca of French gastronomy, Lyon was once a fairground city where merchants from all over Europe came to trade.
